Previously: COMING HOME

The Petaluma Museum presents “Coming Home” a special speaker series this month (January 12 – 29 with Opening Night at 7:00 p.m. on January 11).

As local troops are returning home to their normal lives after years of combat in Iraq & Afghanistan they are bringing with them incredible stories of bravery, comradeship and very often tragedy.  The series will take an in-depth look at the daily life of a modern soldier.  This unique series is the first of it’s kind locally and will be documented by Petaluma Community Access.

This will be a unique opportunity for these brave men and women to share their incredible stories and give us all a better understanding of war from the perspective of the individual soldier” explains Museum President Joe Noriel.

The first Speaker will be Tawnya Sharke who will discuss her experience as a nurse who served in Afghanistan – Saturday, January 14th 2012 at 4:00 p.m.

The Series is part of the Sentinels Exhibition, showcasing the art of Vietnam Veteran Mike Dowdall.  The Art showcases incredible moving images of soldiers from various wars.  Proceeds from the sale of Sentinel posters will benefit “Vet Connect.”

The exhibit includes artifacts and images on loan by returning soldiers, a veterans resource table and will conclude with a “Welcome Home Day” on January 29.

Admission is free to the public  For more information please call 707-778-4398
