Join us for a birthday celebration 120 years in the making!

For 120 years, the Petaluma Museum’s beloved landmark building has been a place for learning, exploration, discovery, and community. Now it’s time to celebrate!

On November 13, 1906, our historic building opened its doors as Petaluma’s Carnegie Library, welcoming generations of readers and curious minds. Today, as home to the Petaluma Museum, it continues to bring people together to explore our shared history, discover new perspectives, and connect with the stories that make Petaluma special.

Join us on Friday, November 13, for a festive birthday celebration 120 years in the making!

Here’s what’s in store:

  • Birthday cakes! Help us blow out 120 imaginary candles and enjoy a sweet treat in honor of this historic milestone.
  • Toys, Treats & Traditions: Celebrate the opening of our holiday exhibition, featuring a remarkable collection of antique mechanical toys, nostalgic holiday photographs, and a celebration of holiday baking traditions.
  • What Petaluma Was Reading: In partnership with the Petaluma Regional Library, we’re taking a literary journey through the decades! Discover books that captured readers’ imaginations from 1906 to today, reflecting the changing interests, ideas, and stories of each generation.
  • 12 Decades, 12 Stories: Explore fascinating moments from Petaluma’s past, from the egg boom and Prohibition to cultural celebrations, community activism, and the stories that continue to shape our city.
