She’ll discuss how historic signs allow the past to speak to the present in ways that buildings do not\, provide information about individual sign makers\, and discuss how these unique resources should and can be preserved. Katherine J. Rinehart is a consulting historian based in Petaluma\, the author of Petaluma: A History in Architecture\, and co-author of The Petaluma River: A Sketch Journal and Brief Historical Overview.  She has an MA in History from Sonoma State University and specializes in property research and archival organization.
