Come for one reading or stay for them all! \nPlus our new annual anthology magazine will make its debut! Cover art by Ellen Kombiyil\, co-winner with Julie Marie Wade of the Raleigh Review‘s 2025 Geri Digiorno Prize. \n  \nReadings At The Petaluma Historical Library & Museum\nThe Youth Poets\nSunday\, September 21\, 2025\n5:00 – 6:00 PM\nPetaluma Historical Library & Museum\n20 4th Street (Corner of 4th and B Street)\nFree\nMeg Hamill\n \nMeg Hamill\, Executive Director of California Poets in the Schools\, is the author of two poetry collections including My Roots\, My People and editor of numerous youth anthologies. A passionate advocate for arts education\, she believes in its power to inspire curiosity\, creativity\, and lifelong engagement in young people. \nLisa Zheng\n \nFor Lisa Zheng\, a junior at Maria Carrillo High School\, poetry is an empty Google Doc or a fresh leaf of paper where she can escape the rules of school essays to pour out her rawest experiences. A “word nerd”\, Zheng’s purpose for poetry\, besides personal catharsis\, is giving voice to the psychological turmoils many teens experience that are often hidden due to shame\, in order to give them hope and cause for change. \nAnaya Ertz\n \nAnaya Ertz\, Marin Youth Poet Laureate 2025-2026\, and a senior at Marin Academy\, began writing poetry in 6th grade. For her\, it became a way to process emotion and inspire change. Editor-in-chief of Echoes and a KQED student journalist\, she sees writing as community engagement. Her inspirations include people\, place\, and passions like world history\, Formula 1\, and neuroscience. \n

It features over two dozen poets reading their works at eight venues. During this day-long “movable feast\,” participants walk to different locations to enjoy a variety of poetic performances. John Johnson\, Presenter. \n \nElizabeth Jiménez Montelongo earned a BFA in Pictorial Art and a BA in French from SJSU; served as Creative Ambassador of the San José Office of Cultural Affairs; was awarded a Creative Corps Initiative grant from the California Arts Council and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts\, and is the Founder La Raíz Magazine. Her poetry appears widely in journals and elsewhere\, including her micro-chapbook\, Últimas Scars. ejmontelongo.com \n \nGeorgina Marie Guardado writes from land of the Eastern and Northern Pomo peoples of Lake County\, Northern California. She was the Poet Laureate of Lake County 2020-2024\, the first Mexican American and youngest to serve in this role. She is also of Mojave descent. Her poetry is very much of the self\, of grief\, of generational trauma\, of longing\, and of nature. Previous chapbooks are Voyeur from WordTech Press (2017) and Heart Mountain\, winner of the 2012 Blue Light Press Poetry Prize. Jodi’s been published in Nimrod International\, Spillway\, Ekphrasis\, and anthologies including the University of Iowa Press and the Marin Poetry Center. Her work has been twice nominated for a Pushcart Prize. DESCRIPTION:The Petaluma Poetry Walk Returns!\nSunday September 17\, 2023 at 5:00 pm\nThe Petaluma Historical Library & Museum is thrilled to host the 5:00 reading.  We are excited to welcome Tony Aldorando\, Georgina Gabriela Tello Bugarin and Ernesto M. Garay\nPetaluma Poetry Walk 2023\nPetaluma Historical Library & Museum\n20 4th Street\, Petaluma – (Corner of 4th & B St.)\n5:00 PM\n  \nTony Aldarondo has performed music and poetry in venues throughout the San Francisco Bay Area\, overseas\, and once\, while standing up on a JetBlue airplane! He is an actor and a voiceover artist. He toured with the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival for two seasons and studied theatre at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco. He attended San Francisco State University and studied dramatic arts and poetry at Cal State East Bay in Hayward\, California. Tony is the author of two poetry books: Big Heart Poet and We Are Poets\, both published by Hummingword Press. He has taught poetry and theatre workshops throughout the Bay Area. His favorite thing in the world is being the best dad he can be to his two kids. \n  \nGeorgina Gabriela Tello Bugarin was born in Xichu\, Guanajuato\, Mexico. She attended Santa Rosa Junior College\, where she completed ESL (English as a Second Language). Subsequently\, she obtained an AA in Paralegal Studies\, an AA in Social and Behavioral Science\, and a Child Development Certificate. Georgina works as a Bilingual Sexual Assault Advocate at Verity\, the Sonoma County Rape Crisis\, Trauma\, and Healing Center. In her free time\, she writes poetry. Georgina writes her poems in Spanish and then translates them into English. Her poem “Between Tears” was published in English in California’s Best Emerging Poets (2020)\, an anthology compiled and edited by Z Publishing House. Currently\, she lives in Petaluma\, California\, with her family. \n  \nErnesto M. Garay’s writings have appeared in the DI-VȇrRSέ-City Anthology 2020\, Redwood Writers 2016 Poetry Anthology\, Pterodáctilo\, and Ethnic Studies Journal. Garay is the author of a collection of poetry titled Reverberating Voices. He was “La Revista Bilingüe: La Voz’s “Person of the Month” in Sonoma County for March 2020\, a 2019-2020 Sonoma County\, California\, Discovered Award Recipient in Literary Arts\, and a Full-Time CHicano Ethnic Studies Instructor at Sierra College. She’s the author of Looking Glass Heart and Road Worrier (Finishing Line Press\, 2016 and 2018) and Xylem Highway (Main Street Rag\, 2019) and the founder of Rivertown Poets\, a poetry series based in Petaluma. Her work has been widely published and she has a new chapbook due from Kelsay Books in early 2023. During the pandemic\, she has completed three more manuscripts. A long-time meditator\, he breathes in wonder at Earth’s and our own rhythmic ebb and flow. Author of Portal and Joy Road\, chapbooks; her poetry has appeared in ZYZZYVA\, Ambush Review\, Addison Street Anthology: Berkeley’s Poetry Walk\, The Place That Inhabits Us: Poems of the San Francisco Watershed\, and elsewhere. She received an American Book Award in 1994 and the PEN Oakland Josephine Miles Lifetime Achievement Award 2006\, and was honored with the Berkeley Poetry Festival lifetime achievement award and a day proclaimed in her honor by the City of Berkeley in 2009.
